Check your QR-bill

Swiss banks are stopping accepting QR-bills with unstructured addresses. Upload the payment part and see in seconds whether yours is in order.

What we check

We read the QR code of the payment part and check the data against the SIX guidelines for the QR-bill, version 2.4, valid from 14 November 2026: structured addresses of creditor and payer, IBAN or QR-IBAN, reference type and check digits, amount, currency, length of the additional information and allowed characters.

The most common issue is the “combined” address written on two free lines. Since 22 November 2025 only structured addresses are allowed in the QR code, with street, building number, postcode, town and country in separate fields, and banks are ending the transition period: UBS on 30 September 2026, PostFinance on 13 November 2026.

The check runs in your browser: the bill is neither sent nor stored. It does not replace your bank’s check, but it tells you what to ask your invoicing software provider. And if you want invoices your customers pay with TWINT or card in one click, have a look at digital invoices from 1pay.ch.

Frequently asked questions

What is a structured address?

An address where each item has its own field: street, building number, postcode, town and country. An unstructured or "combined" address puts everything on two free lines. In the QR-bill, at least name, postcode, town and country are mandatory.

From when do banks reject unstructured addresses?

Since 22 November 2025 new QR-bills may only contain structured addresses. Banks have set different dates for no longer accepting old ones for payment: UBS 30 September 2026, PostFinance 13 November 2026. Your bank's notice is what counts.

Is my bill sent anywhere?

No. The QR code is read and checked in your browser. We neither send nor store the image or the data.

What is the difference between a QR-IBAN and an IBAN?

A QR-IBAN is only used with the 27-digit QR reference, and only for bills in Swiss francs. With a normal IBAN you use the Creditor Reference (starting with RF) or no reference, in francs or euros.

What do I do if the check finds errors?

Fix the data in your invoicing software, usually the customer addresses and your own address, or ask the provider for an update. Then check one bill again before sending them all.
