One customer asks for TWINT, another wants to use a card and another looks for the PostFinance button. If they don’t find it, they buy elsewhere. Offering PostFinance Pay doesn’t require an extra contract or a developer: you switch it on alongside the other methods.
What PostFinance Pay is
PostFinance Pay is the method PostFinance customers use to pay online directly from their account, confirming the payment in the app. For many Swiss customers, especially those who don’t use a credit card online, it is the method they trust most.
Two ways to accept it
A direct contract with PostFinance. This makes sense for businesses with large volumes and a technical team to manage the integration. It does, however, mean an extra contract, extra billing and an extra report, separate from those for TWINT and cards.
One provider for every method. With 1pay.ch, PostFinance Pay is included in the same contract as TWINT, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna and the other methods. You switch it on in the dashboard, on every plan, including the free one.
Direct contract or a single contract
| Direct contract | 1pay.ch | |
|---|---|---|
| Contracts | One for PostFinance, others for TWINT and cards | One for over 20 methods |
| Reports and payouts | Separate for each provider | In a single dashboard |
| Shop integration | To set up for each provider | One plugin for every method |
| Fixed costs | Depending on the contract | None on the Starter plan |
Where you can offer PostFinance Pay
- In your online shop. The 1pay.ch plugin works with WooCommerce, Shopify, PrestaShop, Magento, Shopware, Gambio and other platforms. PostFinance Pay appears in the checkout next to the other methods.
- With a payment link. For anyone selling on WhatsApp, Instagram or over the phone: the customer opens the payment link and chooses PostFinance Pay.
- On invoices. 1pay.ch digital invoices can be paid online with the customer’s preferred method, PostFinance Pay included.
- With a QR. The customer scans the code with their camera and chooses the method on the page that opens.
What it costs
PostFinance Pay has the same online fees as TWINT, Visa and Mastercard:

Switching it on in five steps
- Sign up with your email and business name. Businesses without a registered company can sign up too.
- Complete verification with the details and documents requested: it is usually done within one working day.
- Install the plugin for your shop, or create your first payment link.
- Switch on the methods you need: PostFinance Pay, TWINT, cards, wallets.
- Make a test payment with a small amount and check that it arrives in the dashboard, with the notification and the email to the customer.
Before going live
Place a real order for a few francs with PostFinance Pay, then refund it from the dashboard. In two minutes you check payment, notification and refund, and you know everything works before the first customer arrives.
Security
With a payment provider, your customers’ sensitive data never passes through your website: the payment page is run by the provider. You are left with the simplest but important part: a website on HTTPS, shop and plugin kept up to date, strong passwords and protected access to the dashboard.
