Payment reminder: the message ready in 30 seconds

Choose what the payment is for, which reminder it is, the tone and how they can pay. The text is ready to copy into WhatsApp or email, with a link to pay straight away.

How to write a reminder that gets paid

A good reminder is short, polite and specific: it says what is open, how much, since when and how to pay. The first message assumes it was forgotten, the second asks for a date, the last sets a deadline and still offers a way out.

The biggest difference is how people can pay. If they have to copy an IBAN, open their banking app and type a reference, they put it off. With a payment link they open the page, choose TWINT or card and are done in a minute. On the Starter plan of 1pay.ch the link is free, and you only pay a fee when you get paid.

For associations chasing membership fees every year there is also the Nonprofit calculator, which tells you which plan pays off for your fees and donations.

Frequently asked questions

When should I send the first reminder?

Usually a few days after the due date, in a light tone: most of the time it was simply forgotten. The second message after one or two weeks, the final notice with a clear deadline, for example 10 days.

WhatsApp or email?

WhatsApp is read sooner and suits membership fees, regular customers and small amounts. Email is better for invoices and fee notes, because it stays as a written record with subject and date. The tool prepares the text for both.

Can I charge late payment interest?

In Switzerland, once an agreed due date has passed the debtor is in default, and statutory default interest is 5% a year (articles 102 and 104 of the Code of Obligations), unless agreed otherwise. For small amounts it is rarely worth it: a link to pay straight away works better.

Can I add a reminder fee?

Yes, if it was agreed beforehand: in the contract, in your terms and conditions or, for associations, in the membership rules. The Code of Obligations does not provide for it on its own. Keep it modest, for example CHF 10.- or 20.-, usually from the second reminder.

Is the message stored anywhere?

No. The text is put together in your browser, and we neither send nor store names, amounts or links.

How do I create the payment link?

With 1pay.ch you create it in the dashboard in a minute, with amount and description. Whoever opens it pays with TWINT, card or the other methods you have activated. There are no fixed costs on the Starter plan.
