API & Plugins: connecting 1pay.ch to your systems

If you already have an online shop or management software, you can connect it to 1pay.ch. Your customers pay with TWINT, cards and the other methods without leaving your purchase flow, and the payment status returns to your system automatically.

Two routes #

  • Plugin: for WooCommerce there is a ready-made plugin. You install and configure it without programming. Read WooCommerce.
  • API: for all other systems. A developer connects your software to our REST interface with an API key.

Creating an API key #

  1. In the menu, open API & Plugins.
  2. Click the option to add an API key.
  3. Give the key a name, such as the name of the website or software, and confirm.

The key appears among the active integrations. Each one has three buttons:

  • Copy: copies the key to pass on to your developer.
  • Log: the list of all requests made with that key, useful for finding errors.
  • Configuration: changes the name or generates a new key.

You can create several keys, one for each connected system. That way, if one needs replacing, the others keep working.

Keep the key safe #

The API key gives access to your account: do not publish it, do not send it by e-mail to strangers and do not put it in your website’s visible code. If you think it has fallen into the wrong hands, generate a new one straight away under Configuration.

The technical contact #

In Webhooks you can name a technical contact: the person who receives alerts about API and webhook errors and is authorised to talk to our support about these topics. This is usually your developer.

Documentation for developers #

Your developer will find the technical description of the interface via the REST API link on the same admin page. If they have questions, they can write to us.
