Before sending your first link to customers, try the whole process yourself. Test mode lets you simulate payments without moving real money.
Switching on test mode #
- Go to Payment providers.
- Click Configure next to the provider you want (Pay or Pay Plus).
- Under Mode, choose Test and save.
From now on your payment pages show a notice and the methods are labelled «TEST». The test card details also appear on the payment page.
Running the test #
The handiest option is the Terminal: open it, enter an amount and pay with a test card. You can also test the tool you will use most, such as a Page or a Paylink.
- With Pay you can test Visa, Mastercard, TWINT, PostFinance Pay and purchase on invoice. Tests with TWINT, PostFinance Pay and invoice always result in Confirmed.
- With Pay Plus you can test Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna.
You can also try a refund on a test payment.
Remember to switch back to Live #
After testing, set the Mode back to Live. While it is on Test, customers cannot really pay you.
Test payments stay in the list #
You cannot delete them, but you can hide them: filter Payments > Transactions to show live payments.
